The Mercury dime designed by Adolph A. Weinman and produced by the United States mint from 1916 - 1945 during some of the United States most turbulent times, World War 1, the great depression and World War 2. Key dates for the Mercury dime include the 1916-D, with a mintage of only 264,000 making it the lowest mintage of the entire coin series and the extremely rare 1942/1 "2 over 1 date" type for both 1942 and 1942-D, mintages are unknown. Other scarce dates considered semi-key dates include 1921, 1921-D, 1926-S and the 1931-S.
